Glow in the darkness

Folded Landscapes is an ongoing series of sculptural photographic works that explores the transformation of the image through folding, light, and materiality. While each work originates from a photograph, the final piece moves beyond the photographic surface, unfolding into a three-dimensional form that exists between image, object, painting, and sculpture.

Created through a process of pleating and layering, the works disrupt the fixed perspective traditionally associated with photography. As viewers move around them, images shift, fragment, and reassemble, revealing multiple viewpoints and creating a dynamic relationship between perception and space.

The series draws inspiration from the natural world—trees, flowers, water, forests, changing skies, and traces of light—yet it is not concerned with documenting specific places. Instead, these elements become vehicles for exploring memory, transformation, and the invisible connections that link living forms and environments.

Gold, silver, and copper pigments interact with the folded surfaces, catching and reflecting light in constantly changing ways. The works never appear entirely fixed; they evolve with the movement of the viewer and the conditions of their surroundings.

Through this distinctive folded structure, the image becomes an active space rather than a static representation. Each work invites a slower encounter, encouraging viewers to experience the photograph as something fluid, immersive, and continually unfolding.
